Audition Guidelines
Just a few things to keep in mind when Auditioning to help make things easier for both parties.
> Auditioning? Send it to our EMAIL!!
Yes, the Okage Radioplay even has it's own email just for Auditions! Be sure to let us know in the message who you are (either Deviantart account or Tumblr helps tremendously).
You can send them to:
[email protected]
You can send them to:

> You do not have to follow the voice description listed w/ the roles.
That's right! Those are just a collaboration of ideal voices of the fans, but you can certainly impress us with something totally different.
> We would like all audios to be either .wav or .mp3, please!
Unfortunately we don't have a lot of experience working with anything that isn't .wav or .mp3 format, so we would appreciate if you exported and sent your auditions this way.
> Specific title for Auditions?
Seeing how we don't expect to receive a tidal wave of auditions, as long as the name of the file has the character name you are auditioning for as well as your name, we can tell who is who.
> Is there a limit on- NO, THERE IS NO LIMIT ON ANYTHING!
You can audition for as many roles, with as many voices as your heart desires!! The more roles you try out for, the better chance you have to get a role. You can try multiple voices for a character as well.
> There will be a vote on this website to decide the voice actors.
Yes, we will need everyone's help again to decide on which voice you like the most for main and most secondary characters. However when voting, we will require your email and/or tumblr name to ensure someone's friends aren't jumping on board simply to help them get a certain role.
When the time comes for voting, most likely depending on the number of auditions, Grimmfirefly and myself will try to cut down the auditions to 'Top 3 (or 5)' per role and post them without specifying which voice actor is which. We want people to vote purely on their opinions of the voice.
If a voice actor is double-casted for Main roles we will most likely ask them to stepdown from one of the roles to allow another voice actor to have a chance to take part in this project.
For example:
A voice actor is voted to be the voices of both Ari and Stan, we will ask them to choose which role they would rather have OR based on how close voting goes, give the role of whichever character had another voice actor do a spectacular job. We think that's fair, but if you disagree be sure to let us know via EMAIL or Tumblr.

Questions asked us on Tumblr
Here is a list of questions (and the answers of course) we've been asked over Tumblr, just in case you have the same questions!
(They can still be found 'public' on our Tumblr page but here's making it easy for everyone to find!)
> "whats "Okage Radioplay" about? im kinda curious could you tell me more about it? and whats its purpose anyway?"
I think the better question is,
Why NOT make a Radio Play?
We, the Okage fandom are expressing our love for the game and creating something we can share with anyone who is willing to listen. Our aim is to create a reenactment of Okage to tell the hilarious story that the game has entertained us with for the past decade (+ a few years).
It’s a project that not only takes a step outside of the box of fanwork, but is something a group of people can work on together to make, feel proud of, gain some experience and meet other fans. And in some cases, anyone who does become a part of this who hasn’t played the game before may then go and experience the struggle of actually trying to get their hands on a copy like the rest of us did when we started playing. (Because I don’t know about you, finding copies of this game has always been a mega chore, which is probably a reason why the fanbase is so small).
So to confirm, it isn’t a continuation of the game’s story, it isn’t a prelude or prologue in any sense, we are taking the games story and building a script based of the original gameplay and making a radio play.
That’s all there really is to it!

> "Hey I don't know if this has been answered previously but I was wondering if you guys were planning to go further on than 2 chapters if this kicks off? Like reaching Linda, Epros, and big bull? And if so would you potentially be holding auditions for them later on should it come to pass?"
Are we planning to do more than the first two chapters? Why of COURSE, the story is absolute gold and we would love to have the chance to work with and share that story!
The reasoning why we’ve only posted the first two chapters of auditions is because, it’s less roles to jumble around with at a time, as well as the fact this project is going to take a very long time. By very long I mean, realistically, if we have all of chapter one up by Christmas then we did pretty good. As someone who has worked with voice acting for fun/working with and mixing audio, I (Overshadowed) have a basic understanding of how long these projects take. Especially since a lot depends on the voice actors and the editor’s schedules.
So let’s say, we did have auditions for Linda and Big Bull and even Epros, they would have to wait months to closer to a year before they got to do any work on the project, and that’s a really long time to wait.
We’re planning to open Chapter three auditions about the time Chapter one is complete and posted and perhaps part way through chapter two. And if the project draws enough attention we can hopefully attract more people to try out for this project.

> "If we edit the audio files, say, for noise removal or something like that, then would that be fine?"
I don’t mind if you use noise removal, just note that if you have free programs such as Audacity, it doesn’t always do a very clean job, and it often distorts the voice acting. Any editing such as pitch changing however I feel is cheating a bit and we would really prefer if you auditioned with your natural tone. And again, pitch changing distorts the voice acting and usually you can tell it’s been altered because it sounds unnatural and in many cases, obviously tampered with. But noise removal, if you think you can do it without it ruining your voice acting then go ahead!
> "I didn't see anything on how Ari's name would be pronounced. I know some people like Air-y, and I personally prefer Are-ee, but I wanted to check with you guys."
We’ve decided Ari’s name is to be pronounced ‘Are-ee’, so the same way you pronounce it currently.
> "Once the cast is chosen, is everyone going to record their lines separately and then send it in, or will it be done over Skype with someone to record and advise (whether or not something's too quiet, or if the wrong emotion's being conveyed)."
We would have everyone record them on their own time and send them in, it would be pretty much impossible to get everyone on at the same time to sit in a skype call and do the lines (schedules, time zones, I’ve done those sort of script readings before and it’s difficult to get everyone on, it’s chaotic, and although it would be good for general practicing to act off one another to understand the scene more, it wouldn’t be good quality for someone to record the skype call itself.)
So to answer your question, we would have everyone record the lines when they could and submit it to our email, very much similar to the auditions, and then we would mix the audio accordingly. If any lines were misinterpreted or we felt could be done differently, we would simply contact said voice actor to do redos. But usually when lines are submitted, the voice actor does at least 3 takes of each line and we pick which works best for the final audio.
